Macdonald Book Shop and EVICS Partner for Annual Books and Trolley Event Supporting Local Children

Estes Park, CO — Macdonald Book Shop, in partnership with EVICS (Estes Valley Investment in Childhood Success), is preparing to welcome local children for another memorable Books and Trolley Event on Thursday, November 12, 2026.

This special annual event gives children the opportunity to visit Macdonald Book Shop, choose books of their own, and build a home library. Attendees will meet at the EVICS office and ride the trolley to the bookstore for an exciting day of reading and book shopping.

Families interested in attending must register with EVICS and catch the trolley at their office location. To prepare for the children’s arrival, Macdonald Book Shop will close at 4:00 p.m. on November 12.

Help Us Put Books in the Hands of Local Kids

Macdonald Book Shop is asking the community to help make this year’s event a success. Throughout the remainder of September, the bookstore is collecting donations to ensure as many local children as possible can participate.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of local residents and visiting tourists, we raised $3,000 and welcomed 150 children, each receiving $20 in Book Bucks to spend in the store. Depending on their selections, that could mean one to four books to take home and add to their personal library. For some children, these may be the first books they have ever owned.

Our Month of the Child donation collection in April 2026 did not raise enough to fully support this year’s event, so we decided to extend our fundraising efforts throughout September. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we are now nearly at $2,000 toward our goal of $2,500.

September Donation Drive: Give Books, Get a Blind Date!

We invite everyone to help us reach our $2,500 goal by September 30. Stop by Macdonald Book Shop this weekend or anytime through the end of the month to make a donation and support local children.

As a thank-you for your generosity, donors can choose from our selection of wrapped blind date with a book packages to take home. You won’t know which book is inside until you unwrap it!

Every donation helps put books into the hands of children who need them and creates opportunities for young readers to discover the joy of having a book of their very own.

How You Can Help:
