Macdonald Book Shop has begun scheduling author events from June 2021 – December 2021. The events will be held outside in our courtyard located between the book shop & Inkwell and Brew. We have fire pits in the area & some seating. It’s possible that we can make available a tent in case of inclement weather or reschedule the event. It will be your responsibility to set-up for your event & clean-up afterwards. We will supply a table and chair for your use during the event.
Macdonald Book Shop will publicize your signing with at least one social media post. It’s encouraged for you to also publicize your event through channels you choose. Macdonald Book Shop will sell copies of your book on a consignment basis, and it is your responsibility to get signed copies of the book to the store & to pick up copies that did not sell. Macdonald Book Shop will sell the books for two weeks on consignment.
Now, you’re hoping that we will stock your book right? Okay, so here is what we’ve come up with as a way to streamline the process. As you can imagine, we are bombarded with requests to carry books from local authors, independently published authors, and all the publishing companies meet with us monthly about titles we should carry (this is roughly 6,000 titles to sift through every few months). Our small bookshop has limited space, so we must chose wisely with our inventory dollars.
By local we mean someone who resides in the Estes Valley for at least 4 months of the year.
Please send us your elevator pitch. Once you have filled out the form, please drop off or mail us 1 copy of your book and we will give it a try in our local section. We will need an invoice for 1 copy at 50% off the list price, dated with Net90 terms. Email the invoice via our contact form or to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Within a month you will need to reach out via email to see what we have decided about stocking your book. You will be responsible for marketing your book and helping us keep tabs on inventory.
Please leave a copy of your book, the elevator pitch filled out, and whether you need your copy returned should we decide not to carry it. In one month please reach out via email for a status update.
Staci loves to read some of our favorite books to children and will host story time every Wednesday, providing good weather exists. Please check Instagram and Facebook for updates. Currently, she has set the event time at 10:30 am to 11:30 pm.
Every Wednesday, during Story Time, we will have select books on sale, outside. These books are hardcovers currently available in softcover or slightly shelf damaged items. They range in discount from 10% to 75%.
If you buy 2 sale books, you can choose from our blind date books. These books give you a chance to experience a new author without the investment. We have a range of mystery, fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books wrapped up for those blind dates.
