Authors
Congratulations
You have finished and published a book – no small feat – now you want to get it into bookstores. There are a lot of guides out there on how to market yourself, but they may not tell you how inundated independent book shops are with self-published and mainstream author requests.
We have created protocols, please follow them. We will not respond to anyone who fails to follow the policies outlined below.
Our Guidelines:
- No walk-ins accepted
- No sales calls
- Do not mail or bring a copy of your book
Submission Protocol:
Please consider our bookstore like we are a publisher. Include the following answers in your query:
- Does your book resonate with our community?
- Is it set in Estes Park or Colorado?
- Do you have local ties?
- What makes you think it would fit in our store, with our customer base?
- ISBN
- Retail Price
- Wholesale Cost
- Where would we source the book? If not through a publisher or Ingram, we may reject your proposal.
- Are you willing to provide books on consignment?
- Do not send requests May through September, plan ahead if your book releases in these months.
If you make us do the legwork to learn about your book, it is an automatic “no.” If your book is not available for industry standard discounts of 40% or above, we will reject your book. Inventory dollars are precious. We want to support local authors, but above all we must consider our customers and their wants.
Thank You.
