We partner with a variety of community organizations, including the Estes Valley Library, to bring engaging literary experiences to our readers. Select events may also be hosted at our sister location, Inkwell and Brew.

We are happy to pre-order upcoming releases with confirmed publication dates and can also special order most books currently in print, as well as many out-of-print titles through used sources.
Macdonald Book Shop’s Winnie the Pooh Birthday Celebration
Love that funny ole bear, Winnie the Pooh? Perhaps you didn’t know A.A. Milne based the fictional stories on a real bear? Of course, if you are as much a fan as certain Macdonald Book Shop booksellers, then you know the back story for pooh bear. In fact, it might just be that one of our staff is over the moon about Winnie the Pooh and she can’t stop talking about the centennial birthday of this famous bear and thus the need for a celebration. Join us in Estes Park, Colorado on October 14, 2026 for an all day event.
We will host a 9:30am storytime with Winnie the Pooh books geared towards toddlers at the bookstore. Michele will hang up her “Pin the Tail on Eeyore” and keep it up all day for kids and adults to enjoy. We have some swag items and plenty of Winnie the Pooh books including some special collectors editions in stock. We are asking for everyone to register for a free ticket on Eventbrite to help us plan enough cupcakes for the all day celebration. The ticket does not mean you need to come by at a certain time, you are welcome to come when it is convenient for you.
You are welcome to bring your favorite Winnie the Pooh character or dress up. Terri is trying to find a Winnie the Pooh costume now. Another staff member may have a menagerie of pooh bears including a Pooh Bear in a Bee costume that will be present for at least the storytime! We are still working on details of the celebration and will update this page as more plans are solidified.
Also check back with us as we may do a joint Winnie the Pooh event in November with the Historic Park Theatre. We are working on the details of a free movie showing, but things are not finalized yet.
